Ahead of their 40th anniversary tour kicking off next month, indie rock vets The Afghan Whigs have released a new single, “House of I.”

Marking The Afghan Whigs’ first new music since 2022, “House of I” is a fierce rock anthem with powerful screams that immediately grabs a listener’s attention. With thumping drumwork and guitars that just won’t quit, frontman Greg Dulli’s vocals shine hard for the track you need to get your gym body together before summer hits.

In a press release, Dulli explained how the track came together. “Laid this one down in New Orleans last summer,” he said. “Was looking for an uptempo banger and feel like we found one here.”

You’ll be able to hear more of The Afghan Whigs’ massive discography on their 40th anniversary tour that kicks off on April 25th in Woodstock, New York, at the Bearsville Theater. The tour continues until the end of May, when they perform on the 24th in Pioneertown, California, at Pappy & Harriett’s. “40 years later, I still get to do the thing I love the most,” said Dulli in a statement about the trek. “Writing songs and performing them with my friends all over the world. I truly have to pinch myself.”

Since reuniting in 2012, The Afghan Whigs have released three studio albums : 2014’s Do to the Beast, 2017’s In Spades, and 2022’s How Do You Burn?.
