The Avalanches Tap Karen O for New Song “Blue Shadows”: Stream

The Avalanches are back with “Blue Shadows,” a new song featuring Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. With an almost reggae-like groove, shimmering synths, and a slightly muffled vocal sample, “Blue Shadows” is a more low key offering from the Australian electronic group. Karen O brings a more restrained, luxurious take to the song, yearning through the chorus as she lands on the concluding plea, “Does anybody know how to mend a broken heart?” It’s not the first time the Yeah Yeah Yeahs vocalist has contributed to an Avalanches song, having previously guested on 2020’s “Dial D For Devotion.” “Blue Shadows,” though, features a much more comprehensive and touching turn from Karen O and The Avalanches.
