The fourth annual Horror Game Awards took place over the weekend, with the scariest game of 2025 unveiled during the ceremony.

First taking place in 2022, The Horror Game Awards is a yearly celebration of the best in spooky and scary video games. The 2025 ceremony took place over the weekend, with trophies dished out for Horror Game Of The Year, Best Soundtrack, Best Performance and Best Multiplayer, amongst others.

The big winner of the night was Silent Hill f, which won Game Of The Year, Best Narrative and the Technical Achievement Award. Konatsu Kato, who plays protagonist Hinako Shimizu in Silent Hill f, picked up the trophy for Best Performance. Earlier this year, Kato said that the role was so demanding, she felt her “sanity slipping” during the creation of the terrifying game.

Elsewhere during The Horror Game Awards, Doom: The Dark Ages won Best Soundtrack for their metal-inspired score while The Most Anticipated Horror is Resident Evil Requiem, which launches next year. Check out the full list of winners below:

Silent Hill f was named one of the best games of 2025 in NME’s annual countdown. “Featuring puzzles with a largely perfect balance of challenge and reward, dynamic combat mechanics, stunningly horrific visuals and a suitably disturbing plot (hang on, are we the monster here?) Silent Hill f gave survival horror fans everything they could ever want.”

Meanwhile, speaking to NME about creating the soundtrack for Doom: The Dark Ages, composers Finishing Move said: “Both the rebooted Doom 2016 and its 2020 follow-up Eternal had this futuristic, tech metal element to them and we figured we couldn’t do a better version of that, so why not look to the past? We knew [The Dark Ages] was going to be a prequel [to the series], so we took inspiration from classic ‘80s metal.”

In other news, it’s finally been confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will star iconic hero Leon – but some fans aren’t sure about the game’s new collaboration with Porsche.
