Thundercat has announced his new album, Distracted, and released its lead single, “I Did This to Myself” featuring Lil Yachty. Stream it below.
Out on April 3rd via Brainfeeder, Distracted marks Thundercat’s first LP in six years, following 2020’s It Is What It Is. Created with superproducer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Paul McCartney), his fifth studio album is set to feature A$AP Rocky, Tame Impala, WILLOW, and Channel Tres, as well as a previously unreleased collaboration with the late Mac Miller. Producers on the project include Flying Lotus, Kenny Beats (aka Kenneth Blume), and The Lemon Twigs. Pre-orders are ongoing.
“Just enjoy it and have fun — and just know that the struggle is real and changes shape, but just to keep pushing forward,” Thundercat said in a statement about what he wants listeners to take away from the project.
Featuring additional production from FlyLo, lead single “I Did This to Myself” is a psychedelic tune, which finds Thundercat in his groovy element. He’s joined by Lil Yachty as the two pine for the attention of a beautiful woman who doesn’t have time for them.
Distracted also includes last year’s “I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time” and his 2023 Tame Impala collab “No More Lies.”
