Thundercat has released the single “She Knows Too Much” that features vocals from his late collaborator and close friend, Mac Miller. Stream the track below.

The song, according to a press release, began in recording sessions before Miller died in 2018, when keyboardist Taylor Graves joined the pair. Unfortunately, the track remained unfinished — initially destined to be a half-recorded preview locked away on a computer somewhere.

That changed when Thundercat got back into the studio recently and completed the track with producer Greg Kurstin, giving fans the chance to not just hear some highly-coveted new Thundercat music, but also fresh vocals from Miller.

On “She Knows Too Much,” Thundercat and Miller find themselves dealing with the woes of love. The laidback track, infused with the smooth sound of a falsetto, centers around Thundercat coming to terms with a woman who loves him for who he is, not what’s inside of him. Miller acts as his wingman on the track, providing the moral support he needs in his difficult time. When the woman you love doesn’t love you in the same way that you do, what happens next?

“I’m grateful to have spent my time on this planet with Mac,” Thundercat says of the song in a press release. “What an artist, what a spirit, what a joy to have experienced.”

“She Knows Too Much,” the bittersweet gem it is, is the latest release from Thundercat’s upcoming album, Distracted, that arrives on April 3rd via Brainfeeder. He previously released the album track “I Did This to Myself” with Lil Yachty, which details the two’s romantic attempts to get the attention of a bombshell who doesn’t have time for them.

Thundercat’s upcoming album will also include “I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time,” which came out last year, and “No More Lies,” his 2023 collab with Tame Impala. Additional collaborators include A$AP Rocky, Channel Tres, and WILLOW.
