Tinlicker Contemplates the Rise of AI on ‘Dreams Of The Machine’

3 days ago 9

Tinlicker’s fourth LP, Dreams Of The Machine, is a superb example of why music made by humans will always reign supreme.

Tinlicker has officially entered a thrilling new era of their project. With the addition of Hero Baldwin in October 2025, the esteemed act evolved from a duo to a tenacious trio. Now with a talented songstress in the mix, Tinlicker is reimagining their performances to incorporate live elements.

Before heading out on the road for their first tour as a three-piece, Tinlicker have released their fourth studio album, Dreams Of The Machine. The 14-track effort, released on Remember The Future, presents a compelling body of work centered on technology and its overwhelming presence in our society.

The story begins with the album’s opening track, “Awake Consciousness.” As AI begins to take on human thought processing and emotions, the machine learning algorithm moves through complex topics and feelings.

On “I Want My Freedom,” a piano medley coupled with intriguing vocals from Hero ushers in a message that hits home as countries across the world grapple with political turmoil. Whether it’s freedom from oppression or addiction to technology itself, the track is a timely addition to the trio’s discography.

Melancholia,” the final single before the album’s release, explores the vulnerability of human life with soaring melodies, providing a stirring display of emotion with cinematic flair.

The inclusion of Hero proves its merit as her vocal prowess takes the tracks she’s featured on to the next level. From the dance-forward song “Release” to the powerful tracks “Choosing Life” and “Surrender,” her rich vocals carry out Tinlicker’s storylines atop melodic, synth-heavy house productions.

Dreams Of The Machine concludes with “Reborn.” Systematic reflection comes to an end as the listener jolts back to reality, leaving technology’s dreamscape in the rearview mirror.

This [album] era looks at technology and where it’s taking humans. It’s a metaphor for computers or AI having human dreams and emotions — the machine wanting to be human, while people behave more like robots. There’s a shift happening. I hope the music helps people wake up to our humanity: that computers can’t do what we do.
