London experimental heavy outfit Troy The Band have unveiled their latest single "Journey's End" – a sprawling, collaborative cut taken from their upcoming second album (des), due for full release on July 3, 2026.
Blending doom, shoegaze, noise rock and metal into a fluid, ever-evolving sound, the track showcases the band's continued push into more expansive territory. "Journey's End" features guest appearances from Peter Holland of Elephant Tree, Kay Elizabeth of Black Orchids, and Caine Hemmingway of Believe in Nothing – resulting in a track that shifts dynamically between contrasting vocal styles and moods.
Explaining how the collaboration came together, bassist Sean Durbin said: "I've been friends with both Pete and Kay for a few years and knew I wanted them involved from the start. We were even more excited when they proposed doing the track as a duet."
As the song evolved, the band leaned further into its darker, more abrasive elements: "The extended breakdown descends into an uncomfortable place. It didn't make sense to use clean vocals, but it also felt too long to stay instrumental. Since Caine was already involved, we asked him to add something 'disgusting' and he delivered. He pushed it into a darker space."
"Journey's End" marks the fifth track to be unveiled from (des), which has been rolling out one song at a time following earlier singles "Porous", "Nothing", "The Moment" and "Adoration of Ill Luck". The album itself represents a significant turning point for the band.
Originally intended as a conventional follow-up to their 2024 debut Cataclysm, (des) took on a new identity after the departure of their original vocalist. Rather than delay the project, the band embraced a collaborative approach – bringing in a rotating cast of vocalists from across the UK underground scene.
Recorded with Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studio in Haggerston, the album features contributors spanning multiple acts, while also marking drummer Jack Revans' first full-length as a permanent member.
Durbin reflected on the process: "We're really proud of this record. It's an evolution of Cataclysm that feels more uniquely us. We hadn't planned to use different vocalists on every track, but it's been an incredibly enriching experience. The record is better for it."
Looking ahead, the band have now confirmed Ana-Maria Terr Bordei as their new permanent vocalist, with further material already in the works. "We're so happy Ana has joined us. Her voice is unique, she's incredibly creative, and we've already written nearly an album's worth of new material together."
