Watch Charli XCX and Lorde team up for surprise ‘Girl, so confusing’ performance at Coachella 2025

Charli XCX surprised fans at Coachella 2025 by bringing Lorde out to perform their ‘Girl, so confusing’ remix. Check it out below.

The moment happened during Charli’s set at the Californian festival last night (April 12), which also saw surprise guests Troye Sivan and Billie Eilish take to the stage.

When introducing the remix of ‘Girl, so confusing’, Charli told the crowd to “dedicate this one to your bestie”, before asking: “Will you help me sing this song with my friend, please?”

Lorde then appeared to sing the song’s second verse – her addition to the track’s remix on ‘Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat‘.

The collaboration came following the release of Charli’s recent album ‘Brat‘, where the singer explored her complicated relationship with Lorde, having previously revealed her jealousy of the singer’s ‘Royals’ success. Upon hearing the song, Lorde offered to write a verse for the remix that would see them settle any tension.

As the Coachella performance of the track came to a close, Charli told the crowd it would be a “Lorde summer 2025,” passing the torch from the ‘Brat’ summer of 2024.

This is presumably in reference to the New Zealand pop star’s upcoming fourth album, which she’s been teasing since last summer, when she wiped her social media and then shared exactly one second of new music.

Earlier this week, she shared even more of a new track that includes the lines: “Since I was 17, I gave you everything/ Now we wake from a dream, well baby, what was that?/ What was that?”

In a four-star review of ‘Brat’NME wrote: “On the self-described “club record”, XCX offers pure party girl hedonism. Percolating beats, brash synths, left-field production and vocal lines that flit between bratty quips or honest one-liners.”

“With ‘Brat’, XCX demonstrates that going her own way will always sound pretty good,” it added.
