Super Bowl LX is officially upon us, and ahead of the game itself (and Bad Bunny’s halftime show), Green Day performed at the Opening Ceremony, playing a medley of shortened versions of “Holiday,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “American Idiot,” and “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” from Levi’s Stadium. Watch video clips below.
Absent from Green Day’s Opening Ceremony performance was their usual line about not being “part of a MAGA agenda” during “American Idiot,” or any explicitly political references. That wasn’t the case on Friday night, though, when they performed at an invite-only FanDuel and Spotify pre-Super Bowl event at San Francisco’s Pier 29. There they called on ICE agents to “quit your shitty ass job,” dedicated “Holiday” to Minneapolis, and changed the song’s lyrics to “the representative from Epstein Island has the floor.” Watch video from that below, as well.
