The Strokes have performed ‘Lonely In The Future’ live in full for the first time during their headline set at Summer Sonic Tokyo – watch below. READ MORE: The Strokes – ‘Reality Awaits’ review: on playful, powerful form The New York band topped the bill on the opening day of the festival yesterday (August 14) at ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba, opening their 18-song set with the track. They had previously played it in jams on stage, including in a shortened rendition at South Korea’s Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival back in August 2023, but this was the first outing for it in its finished form. Elsewhere in the Summer Sonic set, they played just two other songs from ‘Reality Awaits‘, in the form of ‘Going Shopping’ and ‘Dine N’Dash’, alongside classics such as ‘Reptilia’, ‘Last Nite’ and ‘Someday’.
