Young MC Also Drops Off Trump’s I Love The ’90s Freedom 250 Celebration

It hasn't even been 24 hours since Donald Trump's Freedom 250 people announced the lineup of the Great American State Fair, a series of summer concerts on the National Mall intended to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday. That lineup honestly looked like a joke — a collection of where-are-they-now '90s hitmakers that included names like Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice, and C+C Music Factory. Now, it's looking like even more of a joke, as a couple of the announced acts have made it clear that they want nothing to do with this clusterfuck.

The Freedom 250 concerts were originally supposed to include a show from Minneapolis funk greats Morris Day & The Time, but Morris Day himself made it clear that it won't be happening. In an Instagram post last night, Day wrote, "It's A No For Me." Now, Young MC has busted a similar move. In a Facebook statement last night, Young MC announced that he won't perform at Freedom 250 and that his agents never told him "about any political involvement with the event." Here's what he wrote:

I HAVE INFORMED MY AGENTS THAT I WILL NOT BE PERFORMING AT THE FREEDOM 250 EVENT. The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event. And despite the claims by the organizers that the event is non-partisan, SPIN magazine describes it as Trump-backed". I hope to perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged.

Incidentally, Young MC is now 59 years old, which doesn't fit most people's definition of the term "young." (He was 22 when he released the irresistible 1989 hit "Bust A Move.") But Young MC's government name is Marvin Young, so he'll always be Young MC.
