So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
WHITELANDS – “SONGBIRD (FOREVER)”
“It’s about my friends, the important people in my life, and my spirit,” says Whitelands singer Etienne of the band’s ethereal new single. “I was going through a very dark time, but love is a great thing. I’m loved by many incredible people, so I pushed myself with everything I had. Every day was a fight, but I wanted to win.”

SLEAFORD MODS – “BAD SANTA”
If you’ve had “Sleaford Mods Holiday Song” on your bingo card for a while, you can finally fill in this square. “Bad Santa” is actually on their upcoming album The Demise Of Planet X and is not really full of Christmas cheer. “Bad Santa is about alpha male culture, the rise of the right, and Donald Trump, who is essentially Bad Santa,” says frontman Jason Williamson. “I wanted to come at it in a more nuanced way, so sonically it’s a bit different for us. We filmed it live at JT Soar studios the other week, so have a listen and a gander.” You can watch the live version and listen to the studio version:

THE LEAVING (CHVRCHES’ MARTIN DOHERTY) – “SAVED”
Chvrches’ Martin Doherty has announced new project The Leaving which he created in collaboration with longtime CHVRCHES drummer Jonny Scott. They also just shared their first single. They say: “’Saved’ is a look inside the mind of someone on the verge of mental collapse. Paranoia. Hypochondria. Agoraphobia. The idea that people close to you are a destabilizing, debilitating influence. They are responsible for underhanded, Machiavellian behaviors towards you. Subtle but highly effective. They see a person on the edge and press the advantage. Make you question your sanity. Slyly, they push buttons in pursuit of capitulation, then step back and watch as you burst into (metaphorical) flames. They enjoy the show. But is it all in your head?”

MARIACHI EL BRONX – “FORGIVE OR FORGET”
The Bronx’s mariachi alter ego Mariachi El Bronx are releasing their first new album in 12 years, Mariachi El Bronx IV, in February, and they’ve given us a second early taste with “Forgive or Forget.” They say it’s “all about romanticizing rock bottom.”
