The first trailer for Scream 7 has been released right in time for halloween – check it out below.
The first official peek at Scream 7 sees Neve Campbell returning as Sidney Prescott after her absence in 2023’s Scream 6 over pay disputes. The trailer sees the original Scream house being turned into a tourist attraction, while a new Ghostface hunts down Prescott.
Ghostface warns Sidney that he’s going after her daughter, prompting the franchise veteran to spring into action. While it is currently unclear if Scream 7 will serve as the final entry in the franchise, the trailer’s official log line reads: “Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”

The trailer also sees the return of franchise vets Courtney Cox (who is now the only actor to appear in all seven films), Mason Gooding from Scream 5 and 6, and ends with a snippet of Matthew Lillard’s voice.
Lillard was a key figure in the first Scream film, released in 1996. During the classic horror’s conclusion, his character, Stuart “Stu” Macher, was the accomplice to the Ghostface killer, Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich). It was assumed he was killed along with Billy, although over the years fans have been quick to point out the audience never sees him die.
Another past character has also been confirmed to be returning: David Arquette’s Dewey, who will be joining the new film despite having been killed in 2022’s Scream 5.
Scream 7 is scheduled for release February 27, 2026. It will not feature Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, both of whom led Scream 5 and 6. Barrera was fired from the franchise in 2023 after posting on Instagram in support of Palestine.
In April, the actor opened up about feeling “lonely and scared” after the dismissal, but previously said she is “at peace” with how things conspired. Following her removal from the project, co-lead Jenna Ortega also announced she would not be returning due to other scheduling commitments.
