The US Army has suspended the aircrew that flew two AH-64 Apache helicopters by Kid Rock’s suburban Nashville home and hovered near the residence as the musician saluted them.
Previously, it was believed that the flyby at Kid Rock’s mansion occurred while the helicopters while monitoring a “No Kings” rally in Nashville, but a spokesman for the 101st Airborne Division clarified that the helicopters were on a routine training mission that had nothing to do with the rally.
However, hovering near Kid Rock’s “Southern White House,” a suburban Nashville home he had built in the likeness of the actual White House, was apparently not on the agenda for that training mission, and has led to the suspension, reports NBC News.
For his part, Kid Rock shared a video of himself standing by his swimming pool and saluting the helicopters, and wrote on Instagram, “This is a level of respect that shit for brains Governor of California will never know. God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her.”
Prior to the suspension, the spokesperson noted that an investigation was underway, stating, “The command has initiated an investigation to review the circumstances surrounding this activity. The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell maintain strict standards for aviation safety, professionalism, and adherence to established flight regulations. We take all concerns regarding aircraft operations and their impact on the surrounding community seriously.”
Meanwhile, Kid Rock is set to kick off his “Freedom 250 Tour” on May 1st, with tickets available here. Watch video of the helicopters engaging in maneuvers outside Kid Rock’s home below.
