AURORA has spoken about the impact of her song ‘Through The Eyes Of A Child’ appearing in Adolescence – the new Netflix limited series.

The song comes from AURORA’s 2016 debut studio album ‘All My Demons Greeting Me’ and features in Adolescence‘s closing sequence as one of the only needle drops across the four episodes.

Written by Jack Thorne (Toxic Town) and Stephen Graham, the series follows 13-year-old boy Jamie Miller who is arrested for the murder of a classmate. Like Boiling Point, also directed by Philip Barantini, every episode is filmed in one continuous shot.

Now, the Norwegian singer-songwriter has commented on the response to the song, a decade after its initial release.

Writing on Instagram on Monday (March 17), she said: “It’s a strange and wonderful thing to see people connecting with this song. The world around me has changed so much since I wrote it. And now the words mean a lot more to me.

“The deep need for the world to stop neglecting the inner child, and confusing innocence with weakness,” she continued. “I hope the song gives people something good. It was always written in the hope that it would find people and treat them kindly. Though it’s strange to me, that it’s out there living its own life- I find it very beautiful.”

In a four-star review of Adolescence, NME‘s Rhian Daly called the series “essential viewing”, saying: “Its unflinching commitment to the darkest corners of the story will remain with you long after the credits have rolled.

“These four episodes alone won’t stop the encroachment of the so-called ‘manosphere’ on regular boys’ lives but it has the power to start some much-needed conversations.”

In other news, in February AURORA celebrated the tenth anniversary of her breakthrough single ‘Runaway’ with a new documentary, Portrait Of A Song.

Taken from her acclaimed 2016 debut album ‘All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend’, the song catapulted the Norwegian singer-songwriter to global fame, racking up over 3billion streams across platforms. Billie Eilish even credited it as one of her main inspirations when she first got into music.

AURORA’s most recent album was ‘What Happened To The Heart?’, which came out last year. Speaking about the philosophy behind the title, she told NME: “The world has grown so accustomed to being apathetic. The truth has never been easier to share, but it’s also never been easier to manipulate either. AI was created without our consent; nobody asked us the people if we were ready to have something that big being thrown upon us. Now, so many things are going to change, which I don’t think we can yet grasp.”

AURORA is set to head out on a UK and European tour, which includes a huge show at London’s Wembley Arena. Visit here for tickets and more information.
