BBC Radio 1 have revealed their Sound of 2026 longlist, which includes Geese, Sombr, Jim Legxacy, Florence Road, Royel Otis, Alessi Rose, Chloe Qisha, kwn, Sasha Keable, and Skye Newman.
The list is chosen by more than 170 industry figures, and “it is open to acts who have yet to score a number one album or more than three top 10 singles by 31 October 2025.” After Chappell Roan won this year, the criteria was changed to state that artists must not have “a significant public profile” already. Sombr is perhaps the artist with the most significant public profile on this year’s list, and he has exactly three UK top 10 singles.
The winner will be revealed in January; stay tuned.
