Better Lovers have announced that they’ve parted ways with singer Greg Puciato, explaining that they “are moving in another direction.”
The supergroup — which brought together three former members of Every Time I Die (guitarist Jordan Buckley, bassist Steve Micciche, and drummer Clayton “Goose” Holyoak) along with Fit for an Autopsy’s Will Putney (guitar) and Puciato (The Black Queen, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) — is currently writing a new album and looking for a new singer.
A statement from the four remaining members posted Tuesday on Instagram reads as follows:
Better Lovers is parting ways with Greg Puciato. We’re proud of the work we’ve done together but we are moving in another direction. To all of our fans, thank you for riding with us these past few years. We’ve accomplished so much in such a short time with your support and we’re still beyond excited to continue down this road with you. The four of us are finishing writing a new album which we are extremely proud of and currently looking for a new singer. Thanks for your understanding, we’ll see you soon.
Since forming in 2023 following the disbandment of Every Time I Die, Better Lovers have released the EP God Made Me an Animal and the full-length album Highly Irresponsible. Their debut single, “30 Under 13,” topped Heavy Consequence‘s list of the 30 Best Metal & Hard Rock Songs of 2023.
The news of Puciato’s departure comes after the singer announced the return of his band The Black Queen, who will embark on their first tour since 2019 this May.
For those wondering if Puciato has plans to rejoin The Dillinger Escape Plan, that band has been playing shows the past few years with Dimitri Minakakis, their original singer who preceded Puciato in the influential metalcore act.
