The Doors were among the honorees at the 2026 American Music Honors, an annual event organized by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center and held at Monmouth University on Saturday night. Springsteen was on hand to participate in the festivities and joined surviving Doors member John Densmore, Steve Van Zandt, and the Disciples of Soul house band for a blistering performance of The Doors’ “Light My Fire.”

While giving remarks (via The Asbury Park Press), Densmore noted his connection to Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa dates back nearly six decades. “The Doors played in Asbury Park and guess who was in the audience — the Boss! Hey, if our music helped Bruce shout out his bride, I’m hip. It apparently worked. They’ve been together quite a while. You know, so long that maybe Patti’s the Boss.”
