Christina Applegate Once Ditched Brad Pitt for Sebastian Bach

Christina Applegate once viewed Sebastian Bach as a step up from Brad Pitt, and ditched the Hollywood hunk for the hair-metal singer. The actress recalled the moment in her new memoir, You With the Sad Eyes.

At the time, Applegate was 17 years old and starring in Married… With Children, and invited Pitt to attend the MTV Video Music Awards with her in 1989.

“I had spent all night staring at Bach, who was then a long-haired hunk fronting the band Skid Row,” wrote Applegate (as excerpted by the New York Post). “I hate to put it like this, but Brad back then was still making his way as an actor, and he wasn’t yet THE Brad Pitt, the man of so many people’s dreams.”

She continued, “And it gets worse: Brad was left to sullenly drive my mom… home. Apparently, at a gas station on the way, Brad almost got into a fight with a bunch of gang members, and, not surprisingly, was subsequently very mad at me.”

Applegate quickly regretted her decision when she found out Bach had a long-term girlfriend and a 1-year-old baby. She also went on to write that Pitt didn’t speak to her for many years, until they eventually hashed things out.

She further wrote, “Eventually, we agreed that I’d been a kid, and though he deserved much better, it was time to forgive the child who dumped him for the lead singer of Skid Row,” and quipped, “Of course, Brad is now THE Brad Pitt, and Sebastian Bach… well, he still has long hair, I guess.” Ouch!

About 10 years ago, Bach addressed the situation, saying he heard Applegate tell the story, and was flattered enough to mention it in his own memoir despite her rather insulting recollection.

He said at the time, “She was interviewed recently on Entertainment Tonight or something, and they asked, ‘What was the dumbest thing you ever did?’ And she goes, ‘One night I ditched Brad Pitt for this other dude.’ And that dude would be me. So there was a time on this earth when Sebastian Bach was, like, a hotter lay than Brad Pitt. Of course that’s going in the book. I’ve gotta tell somebody that!”

Eventually, Applegate did settle down with a rock star, marrying current husband Martyn LeNoble, bassist for Porno for Pyros. The pair, who wed in 2013, have a daughter named Sadie together.
