Cut Worms announces new Jeff Tweedy-produced album & tour: hear “Windows on the World”

Max Clarke has announced his fourth Cut Worms album, Transmitter, which will be out March 13 via Jagjaguwar. He made it in his former hometown of Chicago with Jeff Tweedy producing at Wilco’s Loft studio.

“The stories in these songs are equal parts innocence and experience—dealing with the ecstatic moments of being freshly enamored with the world as well as the isolation and seclusion that can come after,” says Clarke. “On view are the unseen inner sanctums of quiet daily life—the private worlds that people inhabit, where they don’t or can’t let anyone else in. It is not a uniquely American phenomenon, but it does seem prevalent here, rooted in the mythos of rugged individualism and the idea that each person must be strong enough to make it on their own or die.”

The album includes last year’s “Evil Twin” and the new single from the album is “Windows on the World,” which features Tweedy on electric guitars and bass and Glenn Kotche on percussion. This feels a little more modern, sonically, than previous Cut Worms records which drew from early rock and country. You can watch the video below.

Cut Worms will also on tour this spring and dates wrap up in Brooklyn at Warsaw on May 16. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 16 at 10 AM local time and all dates are listed below.
