Jack Black Performs “We Got the Beat”/”Paranoid” Mashup with The Go-Go’s at Benefit Gig: Watch

Jack Black joined The Go-Go’s onstage at a benefit concert in Los Angeles on Saturday (August 23rd), mashing up the latter’s hit “We Got the Beat” with the Black Sabbath classic “Paranoid.”

The performance capped off a seven-hour concert in the backyard of TV writer Donick Carey’s home, with proceeds benefitting the Musack Foundation. Throughout the night, a number of other notable comedians and musicians performed, including Fred Armisen, Thomas Lennon, Margaret Cho, Robyn Hitchcock, Lisa Loeb, Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna, Love and Rockets’ David J, The Cure’s Lol Tolhurst, and more.

Black was backed by The Go-Go’s Charlotte Caffey, Jane Wiedlin, and Gina Schock, as well as Armisen and others, as he appeared in his typical tie-dye outfit, singing and dancing very much like The Go-Go’s did in their classic music videos. What started out as a straight-up version of “We Got the Beat” turned into a mashup with Sabbath’s “Paranoid,” as Black and company paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne.

The song ended with Black pulling fans up from the audience, and the evening’s other performers jumping onstage, as well.

Other highlights from the concert included Lennon in his full Reno 911! uniform singing “Vacation” with The Go-Go’s, and Loeb fronting a rendition of “Our Lips Our Sealed.”
