Yesterday, Jack White pulled a Jack White, quietly and semi-secretly announcing his upcoming solo album Frozen Charlotte. The announcement was part of the new new Release Lab video series from White's Third Man label, which was billed as an educational peek behind the scenes. Now that the secret is out, White is doing the regular album-release thing, and that includes the release of the LP's lead single.
Frozen Charlotte includes "G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs" and "Derecho Demonico," the two new songs that White released earlier this year and performed on Saturday Night Live. Today, White shares "Dollar Bill," a percussive blues-rock ripper that he teased as part of the album announcement and that he's been playing live this year.
White wrote and produced "Dollar Bill" himself. On the song, he sings about money and power: "You can't control me unless you owe me! And you don't own me unless I blow you!" There's some wiggy guitar-solo action in there, too. Check it out below.
Frozen Charlotte is out 7/10 on Third Man Records.
