Ken Park signs to TODO, announces self-titled EP

The announcement of the new EP follows Ken Park’s previously released singles “Maybe Delete”, “Shatter”, and “Nosebleed”, with “Sleep Paralysis” arriving as the latest preview. Speaking on the track, he explains: “Sleep paralysis is a state where the mind wakes before the body—where you’re aware of your own vulnerability but powerless to act," he explains. "It’s something many of us experience at some point, and this song became my way of giving voice to that feeling of being stuck: wanting something intensely while knowing it remains frustratingly, persistently just out of reach."

As the latest signing to TODO Records, Park joins a roster of exciting new artists at the developing stages of their careers. Based between Austin, Texas, and New York City, TODO was launched last June by Simon Halliday, former head of 4AD and Warp, his wife Meesh Halliday, agent and founder of Bolt Photography Agency, and Texan music photographer Pooneh Ghana.

The label started when Simon looked to run a smaller, independent label with a focus on newer artists. Now, TODO looks to represent unsigned and underrepresented artists, serving as a “feeder label”, signing one-album deals in order to offer a temporary platform for growth.

Speaking to The Austin Chronicle about TODO’s mission, Meesh explains: “We’re genuinely trying to be a stepping stone. Rather than having aspirations of being a traditional label where we collect artists’ copyrights and keep them there, we’ll help them with one album, give them their copyrights after five years, and then whatever they do next, we’re not the end goal.”
