Kneecap look back on a hopeful time with new single, Smugglers & Scholars

“Smugglers & Scholars” follows lead single “Liar’s Tale” released last month alongside the announcement of FENIAN, and premiered this evening on Zane Lowe’s Apple 1 Music Show.

The track sees Kneecap draw upon a Detroit hip-hop-inspired sound to push back against a romanticised idea of Ireland, reflecting on a revolutionary period when people came together to make change happen.

Speaking about “Smugglers and Scholars”, Kneecap say: “[It’s] a track that's reminiscing on Revolutionary times in Ireland, driven by a hopefulness, when the working class, academics and good people everywhere united and took action in search of a better future.”
