Liquid Death and Spotify Unveil the First-Ever Music Streaming Urn

3 days ago 4

Liquid Death and Spotify have unveiled the Eternal Playlist Urn — what they claim to be the first of its kind.

Yep, an urn — for ashes — that’s fitted with a Bluetooth speaker, so you can jam eternally. A press release bills it as a “new category of product, created to consider music as entertainment for more than just the living and redefine the afterlife experience.”

Jamming in the afterlife doesn’t come cheap, as the urn is priced at $495 and only available in limited quantities via Liquid Death’s website. The urn is approximately 7-inches in length/width and 11-inches tall, weighing 2.4 pounds. It charges via USB-C, so you will need a third party to keep the speaker charged if you want to keep listening beyond this mortal coil.

Along with the urn, Spotify has rolled out the Eternal Playlist Generator to help you build a list of songs to “last a lifetime… and beyond.” After answering a question (i.e. “What’s your eternal vibe?”), Spotify will build your Eternal Playlist, which can be shared with friends and synced directly to the urn.

As the commercial for the urn posits: “What’s the worst part about being dead? …You can’t listen to music.” Watch the video below.
