Dominik Paris, the lead singer of the Italian metal band Rise of Voltage, won a bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in the Alpine Skiing – Men’s Downhill event in Bormio, Italy.
The 36-year-old Paris, whose nickname is the “King of Bormio” for his success on Stelvio slope in the Italian city, was competing in his fifth and final Olympics, and finally walked away with a medal after going home empty-handed the previous four times. Despite his previous Olympic misses, he’s a very accomplished skier, with seven World Cup victories between downhill and super-G races.
When he’s not on the ski slopes, Paris is fronting Rise of Voltage, a groove-metal band that released it’s debut album, Time, in 2017 and its follow-up, Escape, in 2024. “I’m, for sure, a better skier,” Paris told the Associated Press. “But if you listen to metal, I’m not so bad.”
