Mortal Kombat II Trailer Brings Video Game Fatalities to Bloody Life: Watch

Moviegoers, get ready to fight. The new trailer for the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat II has arrived ahead of its theatrical release this fall. Watch the clip below.

This latest entry in the Mortal Kombat franchise revolves around fan-favorite character Johnny Cage, who is portrayed by actor Karl Urban, best known recently for his work in The Boys TV series.

Based on the legendary video game series, the movie picks up where 2021’s Mortal Kombat reboot left off, delving into the Mortal Kombat tournament that was mentioned in the last film. The intergalactic battle has major consequences for Earth; if fighters from the planet don’t win it all, Outworld overlord Shao (played by Martyn Ford) is prepared to invade and take it over.

The full trailer follows a teaser that was released yesterday, also centering on Johnny Cage. In the teaser, Cage — a parody of ’90s-era action movie stars — is seen starring in a movie called Uncaged Fury, where he demolishes a small army of villains. Among their crimes: they “fucked with his shades.”

Like Mortal Kombat, the sequel was directed by Simon McQuoid. The cast of Mortal Kombat II also includes Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Briggs, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, and more.

Mortal Kombat II is set for release on October 24th, 2025.
