The newly restored version of Pink Floyd‘s legendary concert film, Live at Pompeii – MCMLIXXII, is arriving February 27th on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

The 4K rendering — which originally premiered in theaters in Spring 2025 — is billed as Pompeii in its “most premium form to date,” with Sony Music Vision enlisting Lana Topham, director of restoration for Pink Floyd, “to preserve the integrity and beauty of the original picture” using the original 35mm footage.

The press release for the Blu-ray states: “The film was scanned in 4K using advanced techniques to ensure the finest, sharpest detail. Colors were enhanced, and every frame was meticulously reviewed and repaired by hand, maintaining a natural and vivid appearance with minimal grain adjustments.”

In addition, prog auteur Steven Wilson was tapped for a new home entertainment mix in Dolby Atmos, stereo, and 5.1, giving the audio a refresh to compliment the new 4K print.

“Wilson’s aim was to remain faithful to how the band would have sounded in 1971,” stated Sony’s press release.

Live at Pompeii is considered a defining document of Pink Floyd’s early ’70s era. On the cusp of recording their masterpiece The Dark Side of the Moon, the film intersperses live footage from the Pompeii amphitheater — filmed over four days in October 1971 — and behind-the-scenes, in-studio clips from the Dark Side sessions at Abbey Road.
