One of the best concert films of the ’80s, Prince – Sign ‘O The Times has been out of print on home video in the US since 1991 and was not available on streaming services for years, but a newly restored print of the film, with remixed/remastered spacial audio sound, will get an IMAX theatrical run starting August 29. Tickets are on presale.

Directed by Prince, it captured him on his 1987 European tour (Rotterdam and Antwerp to be specific) for the double album Sign ‘O The Times. He had just disbanded The Revolution and his band on this tour included drummer Sheila E., Revolution keyboardist Doctor Fink, keyboardist Boni Boyer, bassist Levi Seacer Jr., guitarist Miko Weaver, horn players Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss, and dancer Cat Glover. The performance of “U Got the Look,” his hit duet with Sheena Easton, from the film was also the song’s music video.
