“Zillow” follows lead single “Beadie” released last month, and sees Sluice explore the accessibility of home — arriving with a music video that features Aaron Dowdy, leader of fellow Durham-based band, Fust.
Discussing the song and music video, singer and guitarist Justin Morris explains: "Searching for a home in an inhospitable world, a mammalian necessity made a luxury item by ‘The Man’, poorly engineered crawlspaces in flood zones, and how hard it is to go bowling affordably in 2026 are all in play in ‘Zillow’.
“The germ of ‘Zillow’ began while I was working on a carpentry crew, scribing baseboard for a multi-million dollar house that was almost certainly going to be devoured by the Eno River in the next 25 years. Whistling one of my favorite early Fust songs ‘Battering Ram’ while on the job expanded into a reworking of Aaron Dowdy’s incredible chorus melody into my own song about searching for a place to call home."
