‘Stranger Things’ has arrived in ‘Minecraft’

Minecraft has announced a collaboration with Stranger Things to mark the end of the Netflix epic.

The official Minecraft x Stranger Things crossover went live at the end of last year and features 49 new skins and one massive new map.

“Each season of Netflix’s Stranger Things becomes its own thrilling quest as you embark on this open world adventure,” reads an official description. “Spawn right into the 1980s and experience an unsupervised childhood of walkie-talkies, arcades, and coke-floats. Then let’s head out to investigate the spine-chilling goings-on in town with the gang… From discovering Eleven in Mirkwood forest and battling Demogorgons in the Upside Down, to joining the Scoop Troop on their Starcourt Mall investigations and facing Vecna as the grandfather clock strikes – this is your chance to relive the most iconic moments in Hawkins and beyond.”

Every level you complete will see the town of Hawkins evolve as you discover clues, solve puzzles and battle baddies. You can play as one of several characters, each with their own unique ability. Eleven can use telekinetic powers in battle, Dr. Brenner can access secret lab panels and Vecna can control minds. Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will are also playable characters alongside more obscure allies such as Suzie.

The Stranger Things Minecraft DLC is available here for $8.99. However, due to the size of the expansion, the Stranger Things x Minecraft collab isn’t available for Nintendo Switch users.

Ahead of Stranger Things’ fifth season, creators The Duffer Brothers revealed they’d been heavily inspired by classic video games Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid.

Matt added that each season of Stranger Things was inspired by how Hideo Kojima sequels are never a “photo copy” of what he’s done before. “Even though it worked before, you continue to evolve it, grow it and change it. You challenge yourself and the audience, and that’s what we’ve attempted to do.”

In other news, some fans are convinced a secret ninth episode of Stranger Things is set to be released following a divisive finale that was released on New Year’s Day.
