Lionsgate has confirmed new video games based on beloved horror franchise Saw and Keanu Reeves’ brutal assassin John Wick are in the works.

Speaking during an earnings call at the end of 2025 (and transcribed by Seeking Alpha), Lionsgate boss Adam Fogelson confirmed they were working on “AAA game opportunities around John Wick and Saw” as well as “other gaming opportunities”.

“There are some others that we’ll be announcing soon,” he added. During the call, the company spoke about doing more with the Twilight, The Hunger Games, American Psycho and Blair Witch franchises. “We’re seeing increased interest and increased opportunity [with gaming] and we remain on schedule,” Fogelson continued. “So I think in totality, you are going to see a meaningfully additive financial opportunity coming in the coming years.”

“If they can find a way to pull in the visceral energy of the John Wick movie gun fights, it will be amazing,” wrote one fan. “John Wick could be cool if they try something like Max Payne mixed with Hitman,” added another. “A Saw game sounds interesting. I honestly have no clue how to make that story work in a game. Everyone loses in that franchise, and it’s hard to make a game where you feel okay with losing at the end,” said a third.

Game creators have made it work before though. Survival horror Saw: The Video Game was released in 2009. Set between the events of the first and second Saw films, players control former police detective David Tapp as he tries to escape an abandoned asylum filled with Jigsaw traps. Publisher’s Konami saw the title as a spiritual successor to its Silent Hill series but the game received mixed reviews Despite that, a sequel Saw 2: Flesh And Blood followed in 2010 but no further video game adaptations have followed.

Meanwhile John Wick prequel game Hex was released in 2019. Shortly after, Lionsgate started looking at creating a AAA game set within that universe but nothing official was ever announced. John Wick 5 is also currently in development with Keanu Reeves returning to the franchise.

The most recent Saw film was 2023’s Saw X. An eleventh film was planned for last year but was scrapped. However original publishers Blumhouse have acquired the rights to the series and have spoken about a new entry that will “embrace the spirit” of the originals.

In other news, PlayStation is developing AI technology that will play your video game for you when you get stuck.
