This week's new heavy metal releases include a drug-induced nightmare (probably), grooves, gloom, and more! To the metals…
ALSO! Today, Bandcamp is doing one of their days of giving 100% of what you pay directly to the labels and artists. So if you can get stuff from Bandcamp, please do.
Agriculture – The Spiritual Sound

Genre: Post-black metal
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: The Flenser
Buy now on Bandcamp
Starting this week off with black metal's hippest weirdos. On this record you're getting a mix of Chat Pile, Deafheaven, and more. The titular Spiritual Sound here is intensity and power.
Author & Punisher – Nocturnal Birding

Genre: Industrial/experimental
Origin: San Diego, California
Label: Relapse
Buy now on Bandcamp
Next up is pure intensity as always from Author & Punisher. With twenty years of one of the most unique and most intense projects of all time, you sort of know what you're in for here and it still hits. Tristan Shone is crushing you with a few friends this time like Kutari, Fange, and Couch Slut's Megan Oztrosits.
Gore – If You Do Not Fear Me…

Genre: Deathcore/metalcore
Origin: Texas
Label: Spinefarm
Buy now from Amazon
This young band wasted no time to find their voice. They were forged in 2023 and are a blend of so many modern sounds. There is a lot of heavy rhythms, melodic and emotional vocals, and soaring choruses. A passive listen could get them written off as a Spiritbox clone, but they really are more than that.
Hooded Menace – Lachrymose Monuments Of Obscuration

Genre: Death metal/doom
Origin: Joensuu, Finland
Label: Season Of Mist
Buy now on Bandcamp
If you're in the mood for a combination of classic sounds then look no futher thant his record. Lachrymose Monuments Of Obscuration is a mix of galloping old school heavy metal, original wave death metal, and some My Dying Bride -esque gloom. In an unexpected twist there is a Duran Duran cover here, so strap in for a haunted version of "Save A Prayer."
Orbit Culture – Death Above Life

Genre: Melodic death/groove metal
Origin: Eksjö, Sweden
Label: Century Media
Buy now on Bandcamp
Grooves. Wall to fucking wall grooves. This is heavy, modern, headbanging. Like Gojira with a love for deathcore.
Today Is The Day – Never Give In

Genre: Noise metal
Origin: Nashville, Tennessee
Label: SuperNova Records
Buy now on Bandcamp
Concluring this week with Steve Austin's fourteenth record of darkness. This truly sounds like a nightmare after getting just a tad too high. Would recommend.
