The series aims to bring together experimental musicians for collaborative, improvised performances, with each edition featuring a new line-up of musicians for a one-time improvisation around a specific concept developed by Njoku — ultimately building a sense of community around experimental music.

Artists featured in the series include percussionist Valentina Magaletti (Moin, Vanishing Twin), former Black Midi vocalist and bassist Cameron Picton, and songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Laura Groves, as well as electronic producer Loraine James, cellist and composer Lucinda Chua, and experimental sound and visual artist Damsel Elysium.

Audio from the sets will be recorded live and made available as part of a long-term public archive and radio show on Resonance FM, while select excerpts will be released as compilations via Studio Njoku. The first instalment of the Conjuring series, Conjuring #1, will take place on Thursday, 19 March, during which Chua will perform alongside Ben Vince, Xiaoqiao, Saied Silbak.

CONJURING SERIES 1 FINAL

Discussing the series, Njoku says: “In 2026, cultural fragmentation, algorithmic homogenisation, and political instability continue to amplify the need for spaces of ritual, collectivity and free expression. Conjuring offers a transcultural, spiritually grounded space for new sonic languages to emerge, supporting underrepresented artists and creating a lasting digital archive. A space to nurture and grow both artists and audience communities.”
