Florida metalcore outfit Wage War have announced a new EP titled It Calls Me By My Name, out April 17th.

The band also served up the opening track “Song of the Swamp,” an ode to its home state. The song is a relentless piledriver, fitted with thick grooves and a murky production that aptly conjures the titular swamplands.

“The tone setter,” Wage War declared in a press release. “‘Song of the Swamp’ is rooted in where we’re from. Driven by Florida and the raw aggression of nature, it’s a heavy track built on tension and hostility.”

Regarding the EP, the band added: “It Calls Me By Name is about being drawn to your roots. This isn’t a concept EP but is meant to live in its own world. Five tracks shaped by Florida, the swamp, and the relentless aggression of nature. Built heavy, but still driven by the hooks that have defined us. It’s our signature sound amplified and pushed further into metal than we’ve ever taken it.”

The EP drops just over a week before Wage War embark on a US tour with Nevertel and Orthodox. Dates kick off April 28th in Phoenix, with tickets available here.
