Bastardane, the band featuring Metallica frontman James Hetfield’s son Castor on drums, has unleashed a song called “Mother’s Tongue.” The track was produced by Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier.

The band shared the stand-alone single on its social channels on Thursday, simply writing, “BOOM! ‘Mother’s Tongue’ – our new single is out for your listening pleasure RIGHT NOW.”

The song combines sludgy elements with Primus-like experimentation. In addition to Duplantier’s production, the track was mixed by Jamie Uertz at Gojira’s Silver Cord Studio in Queens, New York, with Dan Joeright and Gavin Lurssen handling the recording and mastering, respectively.

In addition to Castor Hetfield on drums, Bastardane features Luca Badan on bass and Ethan Sirotzki on guitar. The band parted ways with singer Jake Dallas in 2024, with Badan and Hetfield taking over vocal duties.

Meanwhile, Gojira will support Metallica on the upcoming UK/European leg of the latter’s ongoing “M72 World Tour,” with tickets available here.
