FKA twigs Makes Up for Missing Last Year’s Coachella with One of 2026’s Most Powerful Sets

1 day ago 4

FKA twigs was supposed to be at last year’s Coachella, but that performance got axed with the rest of her original “Eusexua Tour” plans due to visa issues. Things got back on track for 2026, and her “Body High Tour” has proved more than worth the wait. That includes her “make up” set at Coachella on Sunday, a powerful performance that’s already being discussed as one of the weekend’s best shows.

The English artist had become well known for her dramatic live shows even before last year’s EUSEXUA and EUSEXUA Afterglow companion albums (the former of which was one of 2025’s Best Albums). Kinetic choreography and aerial pole performances have grown into the perfect pairing for her club-ready avant-pop, and that live art was taken to its apex at Coachella. Closing down the Mojave Tent, FKA twigs brought multiple costume changes, a cadre of dancers, and an incomparable intensity that nearly left her in tears as she closed down with “Cellophane.”

That finale song was delivered with FKA alone on stage, stripping away a feathered dress fit for the red carpet before working the pole and finishing huddled with nothing but her captivating vocals. Her emotions were clear, the catharsis of those final moments the release of the building passion that included other operatic moments such as “EUSEXUA” and the “Two Weeks.”

But getting to that closing number included a lot of joy, as well. “papi bones” and “Sushi” brought a sensual club energy with a cadre of male backup dancers, fittingly segued into a full ballroom showcase interlude. Legendary host Dashaun Wesley came out to run the dance off, which featured voguing appearances by Honey Balenciaga and Makayla Basquiat. Rather than simply masking a costume change, the dance break fit into the set’s larger celebration of club culture.

Elsewhere in the set, FKA twigs brandished a sword, welcomed out Izzy Spears (“honda” and “Schadenfreude”), and proved herself to be one of the most impressive dual threats in the game (just watch her dance moves during “Love Crimes”). Karol G may have headlined Sunday in a historic first for a Latin female artist, but anyone opting to get to that set late in favor of witnessing FKA twigs’ artistic expression on full display isn’t likely to have regrets.

“Going on tour the last month and looking out into the audience, I’ve not really seen fans or people that are just kind of into my music,” Twigs told the Coachella crowd. “What I’ve seen is community. I’m looking out into the crowd tonight and I see the same thing. I think that all of us are here tonight because we want to grow, because we believe in ourselves, because we’re artistic, because we have an expression, because we’re here against all odds.”
