More And More Multi-Genre Festivals Like Sziget In Hungary Are Welcoming Metalcore Acts Such As BRING ME THE HORIZON, ANNISOKAY, And AVRALIZE

As Sabaton showed earlier with a scientific study done on the popularity of music genres – a sentence I never thought I would write – metal and rock are beginning to permeate the mainstream, and are being welcomed on bigger and bigger stages. Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary announced that Bring Me The Horizon would be headlining one night of their five nights, and added metalcore bands like AVRALIZE and ANNISOKAY to the lineup. Taking place from August 11th to August 14th (if you're planning a holiday anytime soon, or need an excuse to get out of this hell-hole) – you can escape to an island in Budapest, known for its beauty, greenery, and ability to accommodate a pretty cool festival ground.

But it isn't just rock and metal artists permeating the festival line-up as alternative artists De'Wayne, ALT BLK ERA, Karen Dió, Lambrini Girls, Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice, Bad Nerves, HEALTH, John Coffey, Kim Dracula, and MAKKROHANG are due to perform across the multi-day festival.

And it's interesting – because metal and rock have notoriously been kept out of the mainstream festival scene, many grassroots, independent, and alternative festivals popping up in their own right to create their own festival scene. While it's definitely leaning far more to the rock side than the metal side, there is a difference Now, we're finding that Reading and Leeds – while was originally an alternative festival that went very mainstream – is returning to their roots in the last few years – and Glastonbury is leaning into indie rock again. Festivals in international cities are hosting Deftones, Viagra Boys, The Cure, my bloody valentine, and Knocked Loose (at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, for Christ's sake) like society never discredited the artistry that happens within our genres.

And shit, you can't deny, it would be fun to watch Bring Me The Horizon play to people who don't know a thing about them.
