LA-based musician Oxis is a prolific powerhouse. The marine-themed electronica act, whose tracks are all named after sea creatures, released her eighth full-length album Oxis 8 this past January. She's already back with two new singles "Grey Mullet" and "Scup."
"Scup" starts off driven by acoustic guitar, until Oxis adds shuffling rhythmic embellishments, braiding the song with her silvery voice. "If you've got rocks inside your pocket, I will drain the lake," she sings — a powerful lyric for anyone that's suffered or seen a loved one suffer from depression. "Grey Mullet" showcases clipped vocals and mantra-like lyricism. Vocal howls float in the background. Listen to both below.
