PARADE's Yottie announces "intimate and kinetic" debut mixtape CASINO

CASINO blends electronic experimentation with improvisation and unconventional instrumentation, with the self-taught London-based artist treating the computer as an instrument across the record, manipulating loops, glitches and granular textures to create what he describes as human-like rhythmic swings.

The announcement arrives alongside new single ‘little little’, a two-part track that opens with a delicate poem about a ballerina’s inability to speak. “The second half is the first half chopped and screwed with heavier drums,” Yottie explains. “It balances melody and rhythm in a way that feels both intimate and kinetic.”

One of the mixtape tracks "76" pays homage to the Greek rebetiko music of Yottie's upbringing. "I wrote my dissertation on how chaos and tradition affects contemporary art," he explains, "which led me to reading about the mass migration from Asia Minor to Greece and the Phrygian scales used in the music played in hash dens. I thought best to do my own take on that.”

Another track "miracle" was recorded in a Harajuku studio and features only an upright piano. “The restraint led to the production of the song centred around voice note memos of the piano, drums, and vocal recordings into samples,” Yottie says, creating a track that “gives space for harmony and emotion.”
