Recording from Brendan Yates’ Father Opens Turnstile’s Coachella Set

Turnstile opened their set at Coachella on Friday night with a pre-recorded video message from Brendan Yates’ father, William Yates. “I’ve Bill Yates, I’m the proud father of Brendan — they’re all sons of mine,” he says. “They’ve been practicing in the house for 13 years… Finally, after a dozen of years, the larger the venue the better. They just enjoy the energy. All the fans out there: we love you, and Turnstile loves you. Enjoy the ride!”

Earlier this month, former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert was arrested for attempted murder charge after allegedly striking William Yates with his car. Yates suffered severe injuries and underwent successful emergency surgery. Ebert was charged with second-degree attempted murder, though he has claimed he acted in self-defense.

Though the video was clearly filmed before the incident, and Turnstile did not address it from the stage, its inclusion carried obvious weight.
