Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith teamed up with Drumeo to surprise a handful of drum students, showing up as their substitute teacher for the day.
The video starts with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame drummer in a car on his way to the music school, and then cuts to an administrator telling the students that their regular drum teacher couldn’t make it today, and that they’ll be working with a substitute teacher.

From there, it gets pretty funny as Smith meets with the students. One 10-year-old kid tells Smith he likes “punk rock,” and goes on to name his favorite “punk” bands as “blink-182, Green Day [and] Red Hot Chili Peppers,” not even realizing he was standing right next to the Chili Peppers drummer.
Smith laughs as he responds, “Red Hot Chili Peppers, they’re not really punk rock, but okay!” He then tells the youngster, “Well, do you know I drum with Red Hot Chili Peppers?,” as the kid’s eyes open wide in shock.
Elsewhere, Smith tries to calm down a nervous young woman, telling her, “Ignore the camera, and ignore me, the Hall of Fame drummer sitting next to you.”
Throughout the video, Smith jams with the students, offers valuable tips, and cracks jokes along the way. Eventually he meets the drum teacher whom he filled in for, telling him, “Keep up the great work.”
