Formed by Adam Brennan and Sophie Coppin, Y have made waves throughout London's live circuit with early shows at The Windmill Brixton, which led them to introduce themselves with their debut self-titled EP Y, released last year. "May" arrives as the second look at their upcoming collection of songs, following "Skipper", which dropped last October.
Discussing the new track, which builds upon the sharp post-punk sound that they've developed, Y explain: “‘May’ was written in the run up to an election happening that month. The song weaves subtle political and cultural jabs with imagery of growth and decay, pulling on both public events and private turmoil happening during the time. In cohesion with our previous releases, ‘May’ keeps a sense of humour - a dance-while-you-cry kind of number - while maintaining our signature sound.”
